The Money and the Machines: Financing and Governing Resilient Health Systems

Synopsis

Health systems are being tested by two forces at once. Money is getting tighter, and automation arriving faster than we can govern it. Technology serves patients and staff only under conditions that cost money: consultation, training and redesigned roles, cut first when budgets tighten. Fiscal pressure does not merely coincide with weak technology governance; it selects for it. This plenary sets out how to govern money and machines together, to build health systems that are more equitable, effective and resilient.
