Prof. Carolyn Chew-Graham is a leading clinical academic general practitioner with an international reputation in primary care mental health research. She is Professor of General Practice Research at Keele University, with over three decades of frontline clinical experience in her work. Her research focuses on anxiety and depression, multimorbidity, clinician well-being and the patient experience in primary care, with particular expertise in qualitative research methods.
Prof. Chew-Graham has published extensively, with more than 450 peer‑reviewed papers and several influential books, and has led major NIHR-funded studies shaping UK policy and practice. She currently co-leads a Mental Health Research Group at Keele University. An award-winning educator and former Chair of the Society for Academic Primary Care, she is widely recognized for translating research into real-world impact and improving care for underserved populations.
